Chairman of BCSE Board took part in 2nd International “Chess for Peace” Tournament

On June 28–29, the 2nd International “Chess for Peace” Tournament, timed to coincide with UN Charter Day, took place in Minsk. Andrei Aukhimenia, Chairman of the Board, represented the Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange at this major intellectual competition. The event was held as part of the inaugural UN Peacebuilding Week and brought together representatives from the business community, international organizations, and government bodies. Approximately 230 participants from Belarus, Russia, Germany, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, and other countries competed for victory.

The tournament was organized by the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Belarus, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Sport and Tourism, and the Belarusian Chess Federation. The event’s high profile was underscored by the participation of UN Resident Coordinator in Belarus Rasul Bagirov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta, and the heads of more than ten diplomatic missions in the closing ceremony. Commenting on participation in the tournament, Andrei Aukhimenia, BCSE Chairman of the Board, noted:
“Chess is not merely a game; it is a school of strategic thinking, foresight, and respect for one’s opponent. These qualities are particularly important for the financial sector. Participation in such initiatives reflects the BCSE’s commitment to fostering constructive international dialogue and supporting projects that promote peace and cooperation.”
