Belarusian meat exported to Uzbekistan via BUCE for the first time

The first ever shipment of Belarusian beef weighing 17.5 t has been sold to a Uzbek company via BUCE. This transaction has become not only the first experience of using the commodity exchange to export meat to Uzbekistan but also marked the resumption of operation of Uzbek companies on BUCE.

37 business entities from Uzbekistan are currently registered on BUCE. Prior to 2018, they used to buy pulpwood and particle boards on our electronic platform, but then all transactions ceased. The purchase of meat by a Uzbek company is a practical result of BUCE’s efforts to help one of the Belarusian meat processing plants to sell its products abroad. Within a short timeframe, we managed to find a number of potential buyers from various countries, including Uzbekistan. The small volume of the pilot transaction can be explained by the intention of the Uzbek company to try out a new procurement scheme and decide whether it suits its needs. Therefore, once the contract is successfully completed, we expect more active participation from this company in exchange trades. In general, Uzbekistan is an attractive market for Belarusian agricultural producers, and we will continue exploring it both in terms of enlisting new participants and expanding the product range”, BUCE press service reported.
