Interview of BCSE Chairman of the Board Andrey Aukhimenia to the News Agency BELTA
The BCSE Chairman of The Board Andrey Aukhimenia informed the correspondent of BELTA about the results of BCSE work for the first five months of 2022, trading in Chinese yuan on the exchange floor, as well as the results of visiting Eurasian Economic Forum.
“What results have you achieved for the first five months of 2022? What indicators have been achieved for this period?”
In January – May, the BCSE launched the projects on trading in Chinese yuan on the currency exchange and to ensure the possibility of REPO transactions and forward transactions in securities via a CCP. Besides, the project on the direct access for legal entities to exchange trading in the currency market has been actively developed.
Over the past five months, the volume of trading on the exchange currency market reached BYN 17.6 billion, increased by 44.5% in comparison with the last year. The trading volume on the exchange securities market increased by 78.6% to BYN 5.7 billion. Deposit auctions of the Ministry of Finance were reopened, during which funds of BYN 1.9 billion were placed (the volume of deposit auctions reached only BYN 15.5 million for the same period last year).
“The BCSE actively cooperates with foreign exchanges and interchange experience. Could you tell us about projects and prospects for 2022?”
The BCSE is a full member of the International Association of Exchanges of the CIS countries, he Federation of Euro-Asian Stock Exchanges, interacts with the World Federation of Exchanges, a partner of the UNO initiative for the sustainable development. The BCSE has concluded a number of bilateral agreements with the leading stock exchanges of the CIS countries, China, Turkey and others.
In 2022, we plan to continue working on information exchange of experience with these organizations, participating in events organized by international partners, expanding interaction and cooperation including stock exchanges of our closer neighbors.
During the General Annual Meeting of members of the International Association of Exchanges of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IAE CIS) held on May 17, 2022 in Minsk, we signed a memorandum of cooperation with the joint-stock company St. Petersburg Currency Exchange which provides the possibility of mutual access of participants to trading in securities.
“In March 2022, the first trading in Chinese Yuan was introduced. How are they successful and are there any remarkable trends in transactions in this currency?”
The dynamics of operations with the Chinese Yuan indicates an increase in their volume already in the first months after their launch. During this time, more than 1,000 transactions were concluded, the trading volume increased more than twice from CNY 235 million in April 2022 to CNY 488 million in May 2022.
The number of participants in Chinese Yuan trading is also increasing gradually. In present time, more than 30 trade participants included as banks, as legal entities conclude transactions constantly.
