BCSE has joined the UN Global Compact

The Belarusian Currency and Stock Exchange (BCSE) has joined the United Nations Global Compact, the largest international initiative in the field of corporate sustainability. This step confirms the BCSE strategic commitment to ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles and strengthens its status as a responsible participant in the global financial community.

The BCSE’s accession to the UN Global Compact is a significant event not only for the Belarusian financial sector but also for the whole region. The integration of sustainable development principles into the country’s financial infrastructure is a significant contribution to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals and creating a more equitable and environmentally responsible economy.

BCSE is actively working on the EAEU climate agenda and creating a platform for trading green bonds and carbon credits.

The BCSE Chairman of the Board stated: “Our participation in the UN Global Compact is an important step in strengthening trust in the Belarusian financial market. This confirms our commitment to adhering to international standards and promoting the sustainable development of the country and the region.”

The BCSE’s contribution to sustainable development:

Environment: holding an auction to place government green bonds, participating in reforestation campaigns, and collaborating with the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Social: annual “Ring the Bell for Gender Equality” events, Children and Youth Financial Literacy Week, and equal opportunities for employees.

Corporate governance: a zero-tolerance approach to corruption, implementation of internal control and personal data protection mechanisms, and working with regulators to improve ESG legislation.

The BCSE’s accession to the UN Global Compact opens new prospects for the development of sustainable finance in Belarus and strengthens international cooperation within the global climate and social agenda.
